Managing Director & Founder
Brian Mooney is a management consultant and interim executive with over twenty-five years’ experience, beginning his career with accounting firm Arthur Andersen before moving into the financial services industry as senior strategy manager with Lloyds Banking Group. After holding directorships with consulting firms in the UK and USA, he founded Effectus Research in 2010.
Brian’s expertise covers corporate & portfolio strategy, growth strategy, mergers and acquisition integration, private equity and corporate venturing. His client base extends throughout UK, Middle East and Asia with leading companies in telecoms, media, business services and professional services industries.
Brian has also acted as interim executive for several clients, leading corporate turnaround, restructuring, and M&A programmes.
Brian holds a Master of Arts degree in Philosophy from Glasgow University and a Master of Science postgraduate degree in Information Science from Strathclyde Business School. He is a Kaplan Norton Balanced Scorecard Graduate and accredited practitioner of the Institute for Turnaround.

Dr. Sloan is a leading authority on the cognitive aspect of strategic thinking and is widely recognized for her pioneering work on the application of complex cognitive theory to everyday strategic thinking practice in global business and public policy. Her strategic thinking work draws upon more than two decades of her own expatriate corporate experience in Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and North America, working on strategy to align the business agenda with prevailing economic, cultural and social issues.
She is the author of the definitive book, Learning to Think Strategically, and has also written numerous privately commissioned articles and white papers on the topic of strategic thinking for corporations, policy institutes and think tanks.
Julia teaches strategic thinking at Columbia University and has lectured at some of the premier academic institutions including: The Brookings Institute, Harvard University, MIT (US); Beijing University, Central University of Finance and Economics (China); Keio University, Tokyo University (Japan); India Institute of Management (India King Saud University, Institute for Public Administration (Saudi Arabia); UN Staff College and Logistics Base (Italy).

Erik Meijer has established a long-standing leadership career in board level innovation strategy and venture creation, both within multinational and at startup companies. Most notably, he has extensive experience in digital strategy and transformation, new business model execution, and client account management.
After starting his career in a high-profile MIT startup, Erik founded his own company, delivering high-profile projects for global clients in EMEA, Asia, and the US. He then joined Deutsche Telekom’s Board Area Technology and Innovation, where he was responsible for the digital transformation of the (5G/IoT) enterprise service delivery platform at the heart of the company’s new “Easy to Partner” and “Un-Carrier” strategies.
Recently, he concluded a board membership at Fairphone for two institutional ESG investors and is currently an independent consultant at a leading Silicon Valley firm for executing ventures, accelerators and CVC operations for global1000 companies, family offices and governments.
Erik holds a BA and MSc, with further executive education at Harvard, MIT, Wharton, CEIBS and IoD (London). Furthermore, he is a guest Lecturer at IMD Business School (Lausanne), a Telecom Management Forum Advisory Board Member and global keynote speaker.
He recently became a Generative AI Certified Prompt Engineer, next to his Agile Scrum Master & Product Owner certifications.

Since graduating from university with a Bachelors degree in Marketing with Digital Media, Max has spent time creating digital marketing solutions for various service-driven businesses. His love for marketing naturally attracted him to Effectus Research, where he has responsibility for the brand’s digital environment as a Marketing Consultant.
In his free time, Max enjoys living an active lifestyle of swimming, climbing, and badminton. Max also maintains a hobby blog that centres around luxury wristwatches.
